Free Alphabet Letter Printables

The first day of school can be chaotic, so I always like to have a simple activity students can complete on their own as they arrive.  I created this alphabet letter printable puzzle for just this reason!  The puzzle is no prep.  Simply print and give each child crayons, scissors, and glue.

Students will be engaged while you welcome other students, speak with parents, and put away backpacks or supplies.  Keep reading to find out more about this set of FREE alphabet letter printables!

 

How to Use these Alphabet Printables

This free download includes full color and blackline versions.  The blackline version may be printed on colorful paper, or print it on white paper for students to color.  The full color version can be laminated and placed in your Alphabet Center for students to do again and again.

The object of this activity is to match the capital letters on the puzzle pieces to the lower case letters on the puzzle mat.  As students match each letter, they may glue them in place.  At the end of the process, they have a colorful Back to School poster to take home from their first day of school.

Skills Practiced with the Free Alphabet Letter Printables

This fun and free activity allows children to practice several valuable skills.  It’s a great fine motor activity as children practice cutting, coloring, and gluing.  Children also get great practice matching capital and lower-case letters, which is an important skill for early Kindergarten.
