The Best Preschool Gift Ideas for 3, 4, and 5 Year Olds

Preschool Gift Ideas

Whether you’re shopping for Christmas or birthday gifts, chances are you know a preschooler who loves opening presents!  However, buying gifts can be tricky for many of us.  We want a healthy mix of fun toys and educational activities.  We don’t want to break the bank while shopping.  And, it’s a MUST that little ones want to play with the gift MORE than they want to play with the box it came in.  So I’ve created a list of the very BEST Preschool Gift Ideas for 3, 4, and 5  year olds.

This post contains Amazon affiliate links for your shopping convenience.  Please read my full disclosure statement here.

I’ve made sure that all of these amazing gifts are available through Amazon Prime, so you don’t have to pay for shipping.  I’d rather put all my money toward actual gifts…and not shipping costs.  I’m sure you would, too!

The Best Educational  Gift Ideas for Preschoolers

As a teacher, I love whenever I can help children engage in meaningful play at home.  So, I love when a gift is both fun and educational.  The following educational gifts are perfect for 3 and 4 year olds.  These gifts are parent-approved!  Children will also love them and won’t even realize they’re learning and practicing key concepts like counting and learning the alphabet.    Keep reading for shopping links and a description of each gift.

Educational Preschool Gift Ideas

| Monkey Balance |

This interactive toy helps children develop number concepts like quantity and one to one correspondence.  It helps foster and develop critical skills such as sorting, problem-solving, color and number recognition, counting, addition and subtraction, and fine motor skills.

ABC Magnetic Fishing Game

While magnetic fishing games have been around for decades, the layout of this one is truly unique–and fun!  In this engaging game, children practice hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills while matching colors and letters.  An extra challenge for children who can name each letter is to have them make the letter sound or name a word that begins with that letter when they catch that fish!

Osmo

Another favorite preschool gift idea is Osmo.  This Osmo set is for the youngest learners.  It allows children to use handheld pieces to interact with an Ipad.  (You’ll need your own Ipad to use with this set!)  In this particular set, children get to practice letter formation and phonics, create pictures and bring animals to life, dress/feed a character, and problem solve.  You will feel ZERO guilt letting your child use technology with this amazing gadget!

Alphabet Robots

Think: Transformers that teach!  Kids absolutely love these Alphabet Robots.  Each letter transforms into a robot as children manipulate it.  They’re perfect for helping preschoolers develope hand strength and dexterity to boost pre-writing strength.  And children can switch them back and forth from letters to robots again and again.

More Gift Ideas

Super Sorting Pie

Any toy by Learning Resources is teacher and parent approved!  This Super Sorting Pie teaches early number skills, patterning, problem solving and visual processing and more.  And the jumbo tweezers build fine motor strength.

Magnet Movers

Spark curiosity, introduce early physics concepts, and provide hands-on learning with the effects of magnetism with magnet movers.   With this fun set, kids get to experiment with the motion of magnetic attraction and other early physics concepts using a magnetic wand and set of magnetic accessories. It includes an activity guide, so you can support your child’s learning!  I can tell you from my classroom experience, magnets are a KID FAVORITE!

I Spy Dig In

Finally, the I Spy Dig In game is a wonderful preschool gift idea.  Kids practice literacy, coordination, and social skills as they race to match the images on their cards with objects from the bowl. They also learn visual discrimination skills as they have to distinguish between colors and shapes of the various objects.  Preschoolers absolutely LOVE this game.  I think you’ll find that it will become a favorite for the whole family to play together!
