If you know anything about me, you know I’m ALL ABOUT that fine motor fun. So anytime I can combine fine motor practice with a seasonal craft, I’m ALL IN. I’ve seen masking tape mummies before, but I thought it would be much more fun and COLORFUL for my students to make a Washi Tape Mummy! Needless to say, they absolutely loved this craft and didn’t even realize we were practicing an actual skill!
How to Make Your Washi Tape Mummy
This is such an easy, low prep craft that it’s simply a MUST at Halloween! Simply gather up lots of rolls of colorful Washi tape, print out the FREE template (found at the bottom of this post!), and have your students start wrapping that mummy up in colorful tape! Don’t even cut the mummy out until all of the tape is on him. Just let your students tape, tape, tape to their hearts’ content!
Next, it’s time to turn this page into a colorful Mummy! If students are good with scissors, you can let them cut their mummy out. As you can see, the black outline is still visible under the tape so they simply follow along with that outline. Or for younger students, you can cut the mummies out for them. The result is simply adorable. Add some eyeballs, and look what you have:
