The Best Birthday Board for Your Classroom

I’m a sucker for bright colors.  They simply make me happy.  And bright colors against a black background?  AHH!  Happiness for days!  I wanted to show you how I created one of my favorite parts of the classroom–our birthday board!  It’s simply beautiful!

Looks pretty easy, huh?  Hot glue the pom poms into cupcake liners and hot glue a cherry pom on top.  Then use a long needle and heavy duty string to string into a 3-6 foot length.  Tie off the ends!
For the cupcakes, I used Astrobrights card stock in my favorite colors.  I printed cupcake black lines onto the card stock and cut loosely around the outer edges.  Each cupcake was programmed with a month name.  Then, I added student names to hot pink “candles”, and I free-hand cut out orange flames and wrote the date of their birthday on the flame.

I’m sharing a free template for the cupcakes, candles and flames for anyone who is interested in recreating this board in your classroom!

Are the cupcake liners used on the garland paper liners? I’m planning on using this for my pre-k classroom. I have been using the same themed birthday board for a few years and I want to change it up a bit. This is beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration.
