Do you display “I can” statements or learning goals in your classroom? I do… or did… until I just didn’t anymore. I have a few sets of cards with “I can” statements, but some were too broad or too limiting and then I kept losing track of where each one was because I have files for my reading series for each week and I kept putting them in there but then couldn’t find them when I wanted to review the skill later on.
And then, I needed to move my CAFE menu which eliminated part of my board space! You can see I’m using up every spare inch of white board at the front of my room:
So, I recently added some fancy bulletin board letters and put magnets on the back of them so I can quickly move them if needed, and I made this little area:
I love being able to quickly write up some learning goals, in words I know my kiddos will understand, using my own phrasing too. It takes me just a quick minute at the end of the day to write these up for the next day… and you better believe the kids check them when they come in so they can get more specifics on what we’ll be doing each day!
It’s quick, easy, and a great way to get my kiddos aware of what our learning will be each day!
