I recently created some first day of school chalkboard signs for Pre-K through 5th grade and shared them as a FREEBIE:
However, I wanted more than just a piece of paper for the kids to hold up…and I wanted something I could use for several years!
I bought a piece of bevel-edged wood from the craft department at Walmart
I spray painted only the edges black. I trimmed the white edges off the printed sign so only chalkboard would show.
Then I Mod Podged the sign onto the “chalkboard.”
Hubby rolled over it to get as many bubbles as possible out.
I went over it with a few more layers of Mod Podge.
And, VOILA! My students have an adorable “chalkboard” to hold up for first day pictures!
